Information about Dauphin Fire Company

The Dauphin Fire Company was organized on April 30, 1924 as a volunteer organization. The constitution and by-laws were adopted on November 3, 1924.

The early fire equipment consisted of a hand cart and a Ford Model T chemical truck owned by Dauphin Borough. On June 4, 1924 the company ordered their first fire engine - an American La France on a Brockway chassis.

The Companies first social hall was located on Schuylkill Street in the Borough. In 1930 work began on the current fire station located at the corner of Erie Street and Claster Boulevard. This building was completed in 1932.

In 1940 the company passed a motion to purchase a new Ward La France fire engine for $4,625.00. The old American La France was sold to the Perdix Fire Company. After the Ward La France the company purchased a 1971 CF Mack engine to replace the Ward. Then in 1991 the company purchased an E-One Protector engine to replace the Mack.
